Public Park
Semi-natural deciduous forests, ponds and streams as well as attractive leisure opportunities are offered by the public park of Bremerhaven.
Extensive walking trails lead through semi-natural deciduous forests, riverside forests traversed by streams and meadows with numerous species of birds and plants growing in the wild. The ponds, one of which can be navigated by boat, are the home of countless water fowl, as well as an ice-skating paradise during strong winters. There are quite a few monuments in the entrance area Bismarckstraße. Here is also the location of the stone figure of „Hein Mück”, the boy with the accordion, much beloved by the denizens of Bremerhaven. A transmitter mast of Radio Bremen and the „Caesar`s oak”, planted in 1913, are located at the entrance Kammerweg. Several athletic facilities, such as tennis courts, track and field facilities and roller-skating rinks offer diverse leisure options. During the summer months, many open-air events take place here.
