JUB – Young Theatre Bremerhaven

Since the directorship of Ulrich Mokrusch in 2010, the Bremerhaven City Theater has continuously worked on establishing an independent section for children and young people. With four premieres per season, the program includes plays for all age groups. Starting at kindergarten age, the JUB addresses the lifeworld of young people in age-specific productions. Current socio-political topics can be found in the JUB! repertoire, as well as age-specific issues. Since the 2015/2016 season, the JUB has been centrally located at Elbinger Platz in its own venue. Cooperation with partner schools and theater pedagogical education
An essential part of the work is the continuous cooperation with schools. More than 26 partner schools from Bremerhaven and the surrounding area have entered into a long-term partnership with the Stadttheater since January 2014. In this way, schools and the municipal theater are jointly setting an example for cultural education in Bremerhaven. With discussions, rehearsal visits, scenic workshops or further materials, theater education invites a variety of cooperation opportunities between theater and school. In this way, a new generation of young theater experts is growing up.
Through the shared experience of a play, impulses are given for personal development as well as for democratic action and thinking - across all generations: "The Junge Bühne picks up on the themes of our students' lives; they experience theater up close, full of emotions that they can relate to. They draw their own conclusions and can apply them to their own actions. For this reason, the cooperation with the Bremerhaven City Theater is a valuable enrichment of our school day," writes Angelika Flißikowski, teacher at the Bremerhaven Workshop School.

Playing theater in the theater labs for all generations
Theater enthusiasts of all generations can play theater themselves in the theater labs under the guidance of actors and theater teachers and develop their own plays, which are performed at the end of each season. During the vacations, theater holiday camps from the age of 6 offer the opportunity to be on stage.
