The swing bridge at the North Lock is an important connection between the railway line and the Columbusbahnhof.The swing bridge in front of the North Lock is Germany's largest railway swing bridge. It is an important connection between the railway line and the Columbusbahnhof and was built between 1928 and1930 in the wake of the large-scale harbor expansion. The steel and riveted bridge construction has a length of 111,9 meters, two train tracks, a two lane street and a pedestrian crossway and can be turned in approx. seven minutes to allow for the passage of automobile transporters or repair ships of the Lloyd Shipyard.
