Museum Ship Launch „Quarantäne“
The „Quarantäne“ is a testimonial of the changeful history of the harbors of Bremerhaven and a former service vessel of Bremerhavens harbor physician.
The launch MS „Quarantäne“ was the former aquatic service vessel of the Hafengesundheits- und Quarantäneamt Bremerhaven. It enabled the harbor physician or the seaport health inspectors to call on incoming or outgoing ships that did not have contact with land (yet). In the case of a serious illness or accident on board, the harbor physician could be summoned by ocean-going ships on the river Weser at any time around the clock. Since there are better possibilities today for the harbor physician to visit his patients, the launch was decommissioned after 40 years in service. The MS „Quarantäne“ is now a ship in the fleet of active museum ships. Following a thorough renovation, it can now cruise on the Weser with up to 15 guests on board.
