Water, Wind & Grasslands - Route

The Bremerhaven Nature Route

1739 they first emerged out of the Weser River waters - two sandbanks, which have evolved until today and have become the largest natural reserve in Bremerhaven - the Luneplate. Only recently the area where rare animals and plants can be found was bought from Lower Saxony. As a result of the port expansion the "Plate" serves as an ecological compensation. The 1.000
soccer field large grassland areal is closed for automobile traffic. That is why the Luneplate is the heart of the nature route. Since Bremerhaven still has much more green to offer, this tour is great for a nice picnic. Starting point is the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and this is your last opportunity to stock up on refreshments.
