Sporty through the Harbor Worlds

Walking/jogging along the river Weser

Start the round from the parking lot in front of the Zoo at the Sea in the H.-H.-Meier-Straße. The road climbs slightly towards the New Harbor lock with the red brick Simon Loschen lighthouse. Cross the lock, keep slightly left and you will reach the top of the dike.

On your left you will see the river Weser and on your right behind the houses the New Harbor. Follow the dike northwards until the path makes a U-turn and leads slightly downwards to the Pingelturm and the tugboat harbor. You walk back at the water's edge, pass the freewheel canal that juts into the river Weser and walk to the end where you see the Semaphore where the letters H and B stand for the island Heligoland and the island Borkum at the top.

After an about-turn the path leads back to the top of the dike. At the top of the dike, turn right and cross the lock again, then turn right again just before the Zoo at the Sea and walk down to Willy-Brandt-Platz, which you cross and continue straight ahead.

To your left is the Atlantic Hotel SAIL City with the viewing platform. At the end the path climbs slightly again at the River Weser Lido. At the water level indicator, where the water levels were indicated with the help of balls and cones hanging on it, you turn around and walk back on the dike top.

To your right you will see the German Maritime Museum, which houses, among other things, a Hanseatic Cog from 1380, and behind it the Mein Outlet & Shopping Center. You pass the hotel, walk down the dike ramp and reach again the starting point of your sporty round.

Length of the trail: 4,9 km
