Memorial dolphins
A place to pause and remember
Dolphins are piles driven into the ground, which serve to limit a harbour area or to moor ships. On the port worlds, five massive oak dolphins are located north of the New Harbor Lock. Small plaques are attached to the dolphins with the names and dates of birth and death of those buried at sea. In the middle of the small lock garden the view from the dolphins is directed towards the Weser. This place is used by surviving relatives as a place of remembrance of a loved one. But also walkers stop here and think of the deceased.
