Welcome to the gardens and parks of Bremerhavens and the surrounding areas!

The idea of opening attractive private home gardens to the public on specific days was initiated in 1927 in England. The successful idea quickly became popular in Great Britain and other countries such as the USA, the Netherlands, Belgum and finally Germany as took on the idea. You will find this event under various titles in other German Federal States.

Since 2006 Bremerhaven has offered the idea "open gardens" and it is a cooperation between the Bremerhaven Parks Department, the Bremerhaven Tourist Board and the "Grünen Kreises" (Green Circle) Bremerhaven.

The participating or public owners of gardens and parks open their garden gates for interested guests. The offered gardens and parks range from home gardens to landscaped parks. Garden-lovers can collect ideas and suggestions for their own gardens, exchange their specialist knowledge with other participants, learn something about the history of parks or just enjoy te beauty of landscaped nature. The diversity of nature ranged from roses, medicinal herbs and groves to ponds and unusual plants and lovingly arranged decorations.
