A proud three-masted gaff schooner
"Wangerooge" - Motor ship
A vessel of the German Navy
The ship „Wangerooge“ is manned by civil German Marines.
The “Open Sea Survival” is the main training for pilots, which is offered twice a week starting from Cuxhaven, implemented off the island of “Neuwerk”. This is the final test for pilots which are taking part in this one week adventure. In the past, “Wangerooge” had lots of other duties. Towing other ships, firearm training as well as material transport were one of the many things.
In 2018 the “old lady”, which is the nickname the crew gave the ship, will turn 50 years. Is there anything better to celebrate this anniversary during the Seaside City Festival in Bremerhaven? Family, friends and everyone who is ready to visit the “Wangerooge” is happily welcomed by the crew. Open-Ship hours will be announced at a later time.
