"Date" was built around 1975 after a drawing by Huitema on the "Scheepswerf Harlingen" in Harlingen, Netherlands. Date" has its berth at the VWRU at the Ritterhuder Schleuse (near Bremen) and in the harbour of the "Deutsche Sielhafen Museum" in Carolinensiel.
"Date" belongs to the group of Zeeschouwen, which are gaff-rigged flat-bottomed ships, which have their origins in fishing on the Zuiderzee and the adjacent tidal flats. Its main sailing area covers the German and Dutch Wadden Sea.
