A beautiful second mast schooner
"W. Klitgaard" - Sailing ship
It drove his maiden voyage as a museum ship
The KLITGAARD is over 125 years old and still an amazing ship. Its maiden voyage as a museums-ship abroad was in 1988. The 99 year old wooden cutter made its way to Bremerhaven von Frederikshavn/Denmark. The active times as a cutter are long gone. The cutter was towed in the harbor of Frederikshavn for quite some time. After that, private individuals and the City of Frederikshavn took up the challenge to transform the KLITGAARD into a swimming museum. After years of intensive work the KLITGAARD is now able to sail again. It was a guest for the Sail Bremerhaven in 2015.
