"Gladan" - Sailing ship

A Swedish sailing school ship

In January 1946 the Swedish King declared that both of the training ships “Najaden” and “Jarramas” would be replaced by two new ships. The diet granted his decision to build the ships for 1,5 million krona. Shortly after that, the keel was built in the naval shipyard in Stockholm. After a few test drives, the Navy took over the schooner on June 2nd, 1947.
The GLADAN as well as its sister-ship „Falken“ are impressive ships and are always welcome in our seaside town.
